i love joe too, but i've been a ciaran hinds fan forever so i'm a little inclined to love joe from the get-go. everything i've ever seen him in is incredible. what a man! my favorite roles of his are in there will be blood and the a&e adaptation of jane eyre. he was an incredible mr. rochester.

Ciaran Hinds is a wonderful actor. My personal favourites for his roles are in Ivanhoe and Persuasion, but this one is right up there, too. He really gives Joe, who could have been boring or a twit, a lot of depth and mystery.

I can't believe this film doesn't have a larger discussion board. It's lots of fun. The DVD has some nice extras, too.

snowleopard, thanks for the tips on Ivanhoe and the Miss Pettigrew DVD extras. I've not seen either.

He has a very attractive intensity in everything he does. I saw him in a commercial for a new TV show just a couple of days ago, but the name of it escapes me now.

I loved Hinds in Persuasion, Ivanhoe, Rome, The Mayor of Casterbridge, and The Man Who Cried.

He was an excellent actor for the role of someone who would eventually find Miss Pettigrew.

I too love Joe. I may be a little biased since I adore Ciaran Hinds to begin with, but I think Joe is so appealing as a character because aside from being quite charming, he also comes across as a really good guy - a class act. If only more men were like that...

I really like how Joe and Guinevere connect over their shared history of WWI. It lends a depth and poignancy to the story that grounds the screwball shenanigans quite nicely.

I saw Ciaran in something last year, and was wowed. I've liked him in everything since. A real charmer! And a bit like Mr Bates, from Downton. Solid and dependable.

He is lovely and the chemistry between Frances and Ciaran is amazing. He's the sort of guy I would like to marry.
