Anyone know of any similar movies?

I absolutely love this movie, and was wondering if anyone could think of anything similar? \ (^.^) /

Check any of the screwball films of the late '30s like Bringing Up Baby, Holiday, etc. This genre was invented by the people who made those films.

Have fun...they are really excellent films in every way.

Cheers!

And if you are interested in period pieces about women reinventing themselves/making new lives, consider the 1990s adaptations of Enchanted April and Cold Comfort Farm. They've very different movies but both adapted from novels and both sure to make you smile.

I agree with a lot of 30s comedies but there are a few recent films with the same style and setting:

Oscar (1991)
Piccadilly Jim (2005)
The Hudsucker Proxy (1994)
Bugsy Malone (1976)

Also believe it or not, but the first two Superman films with Reeves follows the same style.

There are a few others but I can't recall any at the moment.

OMG, YES, Oscar is the PERFECT recommendation! That was the movie that made me fall in love with the 30s! I struggled to figure out what to recommend, but now that you say it, it makes complete sense!

WATCH OSCAR!

Chase: Wow. Yeah, I get it. House is adorable. I just want to hold him and never let go.

Being Julia (2004) is very similar and equally delightful! :)

The Remains of the Day
Jane Eyre
Neither are funny like this film but the romance is the same, a poor woman finding love and happiness.
Nanny McPhee is also somewhat similar and funny.

The Lady Eve! Another great screwball comedy. Which is basically what this is.

There's a recent one called A Royal Night Out that's a little similar. It's a fictionalised story of Princesses Elizabeth and Margaret going out into the crowds to celebrate on VE Night. Very charming and very sweet, and quite funny too.
