Downhill From Scene One

This movie cost $45 million to make and I believe $44 of it was on CGI. Was there one scene that was real? It was bad CGI too. The opening scene was almost comical it was so badly done, but then it continues and despite the decent cast, the equally poor dialogue couldn't save it. I'd have given it one star, but Von Sydow was in it, so I gave it two. Seriously, people found this enjoyable? Sure, I know, mindless entertainment, but there wasn't a single scene that was well executed. I knew nothing about this, but saw the cast and decided to give it a try. Reading the positive reviews leads me to believe people had to like this before even seeing it. Even Excalibur seems less silly than this.

Hey, Debbie Downer, let it go... this movie was hella fun... I'm actually hoping for a sequel... oh well, you say tomayto. I say tomahto.

Right. Well, I have to-- I have to go now, Duane, because I, I'm due back on the planet Earth.

i liked it a lot as well and was hoping for some kind of sequel but no such luck.

The original poster is perfectly entitled to his opinion. Just as I am perfectly entitled to disagree with everything that he wrote.

I get different tastes and all but you gave "Inside" a 7. I have never seen a more idiotic movie.

I don't love her.. She kicked me in the face!!

Inside is a horror film. I actually thought Inside, despite it's gore, was an intense drama. I can't really get into a debate about Solomon Kane, because it was barely watchable, but there aren't too many films like Inside. I admit, having possibly adding a point for Beatrice Dalle, but I really liked it. I fully admit, SK isn't my type of movie, so I went in expecting nothing, but felt I got less.

You gave The Raid 4 stars and many think it's the best action film of the last ten years. I think I actually agreed with you on a couple of the ratings I saw.

BTW, on a friendly tip, I see you like New World. I didn't love this one, but you might like The Man From Nowhere. If you haven't seen it, it's a great one.

I have seen The Man From Nowhere and I did love it :)

What I didn't like about Inside was all of the abysmally stupid things that ALL the characters did. I mean TONS. Pretty much the same with The Raid. Just way too unrealistic (in the context of the stories).

Yes, we do concur on quite a few movies and I actually did conclude that movies like Solomon Kane probably aren't your favorite type :)

I find that most movies where people get trapped in their own homes is a result of silly, stupid behavior. But then again, it's a true horror film and I've come to realize we can't look at those the same way. As for The Raid, I don't even like action movies that much and I loved it.

What are your feelings about Black Death? I hated it, but I don't know anyone else who did and horror fans think it's brilliant. I like Sean Bean in almost everything and I like Chris Smith's films, but not this one. Something tells me you're about to tell me to die, haha

reply

Hahaha! No, you're quite civil and I do respect the fact that people have different tastes. I just added Black Death to my watch list so I don't know at this point.

I 'm a big fan of "foreign" movies, particularly Asian stuff like The Man From Nowhere :)

reply

I hope you enjoy it. I'm literally the only person I know who doesn't like it.

I'd say 60% of the films I watched, aside from B-movie horror, are foreign films.
