I haven't seen this movie, but...

Years ago, I was developing a screenplay for a movie literally and simply entitled "The End of the World" which would be slightly comedy/horror/sci-fi which involved a town in the United States in near-apocolyptic times in which the sun was thought to be on the verge of exploding and taking out all human life. However, this single town of Wellington in the Western United States had been developing, for many years, an exact replica of their town nearly half a mile underground with working lights for daylight, running water from numerous wells, fake rain water, fake snow, painted skies and clouds, fake grass, everything, so that the citizens of the town could live normal and happy lives underground following the apocalypse. Someone told me about this book, I think before even the movie came out, and told me it was essentially the same story. And since my script was pretty laughable anyways (I never really expected to go anywhere with it), I just scrapped the idea because it seemed silly and apparently there was a story out there almost identical to it. So, I'm asking everyone here, is "City of Ember" anything like the story I just mentioned to you?

reply

Well, no.

reply

Well kinda. Maybe you should watch and if it's different enough you can continue working on your book.
