Watch for yourself and decide :-) Its all opinion. Lots of movies people hate that I end up loving and lots of "classics" I don't get the hype.
For this movie, I think it mostly depends on your expectations. I'm used to watching Asian horror and LOVE the Pang Bros, so my wife and I quite enjoyed it. Not their best, but far from their worst. 7/10 from me. If you haven't watched much Asian horror and/or you aren't open minded to Eastern ideas of spirituality and the supernatural (and I guess the "natural", too), you probably won't like it. If you're expecting a serial killer stalking the forest with an axe, you'll hate it.
Personally, I wasn't as creeped out as I hoped and not everything was explained (not always a bad thing), but the story was emotional and engaging. And I guess I'm somewhat more open to the idea of "Plant Intelligence" than others. Even if you're totally close minded to the idea, its just a movie, and an easier one to suspend your disbelief for than, say, "Benjamin Button" lol
So yeah, watch and decide for yourself :-) Hopefully this was helpful and I at least explained the reasons I liked it, instead of just saying "this movie is crap" lol

I was introduced to the Pangs with The Eye, which creeped me out to heck...I thought their 1st American feature The Messengers was OK..there is worse horror out there IMO...
I actually saw this at the RedBox...plus today is free movie Monday, so I plan to rent it tonight & will comment later.

There is nothing good about this movie. 2 hot asian chicks that dont get wet or nude and a who can deny really lame story and climax. The pace is credible but nothing engaging happens.
Wasted a rental on this one.
It wasn't a bad movie. Just a misleading title. I was expecting a horror movie, but instead turned out to more of a sci-fi flick. I thought the "plant intelligence" was interesting. Overall, an average film.
shareI usually love these kinds of movies, but lately I've been let down a lot. I finally got to see Re-Cycle and it wasn't that great. And this movie? Well, they lost me when the dude swallowed... well, you saw what he swallowed. Nasty.

I am far from being fan of the Pang Brothers. However I have enjoyed, if only moderately, some of his movies such as 'The Eye'. BUT 'Forest of Death' is plain and simple a load of crap. I don't use that term lightly. This movie truly is a freaking mess.
I regret having rented it. The flick starts bad, and then becomes even worse and by the end makes no sense at all.
Only the beautiful Qi Shu and Rain Li, made the experience of watching this turd bearable.
