I mean, seriously, if they released that crappy Peter Pan sequel in cinemas, why not Ariel's Beginning?
It's definitely superior in every possible way. In fact, the animation is one of the best among all the Disney movies. The yeah, while it wasn't as fantastic as TLM1 (or 2), but still it was much better than most of the animated movies that came out recently, including of course Return to Never Land.

Yeah, Ariel's beginning didn't need to hide in comparison to Return to Never land and Jungle Book 2. It had excellent animation, good music and a nice storyline. It would have been great to watch Ariel in the theater :D.
