not sure if many of you saw the show on tv and then bought the dvd's but for anyone who did have you noticed the changes in the soundtrack?
i.e in the bbc version of eppisode 6 "regina spektor - fidelity" is playing at the beginning when Jessica is getting ready for alex's visit, and again when siobhan is meeting harry in the park "sigur ross -vaka" is playing in the background,
but on the dvd both of these songs have been replaced..
How do you know all this? The soondtracks are great is their a cd of them or a list somewhere?
shareSoundtracks often change for the DVD release of a programme. The commercial tracks used for the broadcast version will usually be removed for the dvd release. It's a complicated and expensive business clearing commercial tracks for an international release. It's a mssive frustration for the film makers, who have sweated blood finding the right commercial tracks for a show, only to have them replaced by alternate versions or worse, library music.
shareThey did that a lot with "Sugar Rush" when it was released on DVD. Changing the music in that show totally ruined some of the scenes. I didn't particuarly notice too much on the "Mistresses" DVD though, I think it's because music didn't play that much of a role in the show. It was more background music for most of the episodes etc.
I can't wait for season 2. As everyone else has said, I really hope they keep Jessica as bisexual or a lesbian, and not just a forgotton storyline like they did with Samantha in "Sex and the City". It didn't feel like they put her in as the token gay character or anything, it was definitely a realistic storyline, and also a realistic ending to how most of these situations turn out with lesbian couples. I hope the writers don't cash in on that element in the next series though - like just use her as the gay character and a chance to have lesbo action on TV, that wouldn't be good. Hopefully they'll keep up the good writing and give her another hot woman to fall for... maybe she could get a crush on Katie ;-) OK, that would just be for my fantasy, lol.
