Edited for American television?

Has anyone seen both airings to compare? I'm trying to figure out if it's worth renting the DVD's on Netflix.

Thanks in advance.

all i know is that it's coming out on DVD on the twenty-fifth of this month, and the picture on the British box is better.

ok, thanks.

The only reason I ask is I don't remember this part ever airing in the U.S.

and I'm wondering what other good racy stuff was cut.

well, i started watching the series on the episode after Alex's wedding. ther IS a website (tv.blinx.com/show/mistresses) that takes you to a Japanese site with the first six episodes. that scene is from the second or third episode, and in that particular scene they weren't actually doing anything of note. don't worry, it's in English! just ignore the Kanji subs and you'll be fine.

Cool. Thanks!

I wonder why they cut it? Maybe it was just a time thing. I bet we show more commercials in America than Europe or Japan. lol

I only watched the Director's Cut versions of "Mistresses" on BBC America On Demand. Many of the episodes clocked in between 59 minutes and 1 hour and three seconds, which is way too long for network television. I don't remember seeing any episodes that were spectacularly racy.

I just noticed that last night. I downloaded both seasons off itunes and there is about 10 mins of a difference between itunes and netflix. Same with MI-5 and most of the other BBC imports. In my opinion get the set from netflix. There were a couple of scenes with Dominic and Siobhan cut from itunes. I don't really get why they did that as they were very important in setting up the fact that when Siobhan is screwing up her life sleeping with strangers, McCormack and Hari wanting to take Elsa from her; he's the one that is there for her. Despite all her protests to him that he's suffocating her, the guy is still in love with her and nothing that she has done has changed that. If they don't make another season, you are left with the impression from the itunes version that she ends up completely alone. From the Netflix version, you know that Dominic is there for her and eventually she will probably come round to the 2 of them being together.

@NoirCat2528..

I just checked the picture at your IMDB URL. Would the US censors really regard that scene as 'racy'? Having seen all the episodes that have been aired, I wouldn't say there was anything in here worth protecting the average pair of adult eyes from. Yes there's some kissing, and the ladies in your picture have a frolic but there's no gratuitous nudity.

I've watched it mostly on demand which I think uses the full British versions. I think the edits are for time (US shows tend to be shorter with more commercials) and not for content

BBC doesn't use adverts we have to pay a TV licence over here that funds the BBC. I think a lot of the BBC programmes have to be edited and have scenes cut to make way for advertisements.

I think you just contradicted yourself!
