Love the show...hate the horrible American accent.

That's a big LOL at "sounding Canadian". Canadian accents are the ones you hear on American tv. Stereotypical "Canadian" accents sound more like accents from Minnesota or North Dakota.

Thank God. I thought I was the only one who thought this.

It's funny. British actors can get away with American accents for only so long before they eventually slip something in that makes you go "oops, what was that?"

With this Sally chick, it was very long before that happened.

I've noticed that a lot of British actors tend to overdo the vowel sounds and hard "R" sounds when they try to do an American accent. It's similar to the way that a lot of badly done British accents by American actors are horribly overdone Cockney accents. The only difference is that British people are exposed to far more American entertainment so they're more vocal about bad British accents. That being said, every British show I've seen with "American" characters have the most atrocious fake accents. The absolute worst ones I've encountered are in Jeeves & Wooster and Jonathan Creek.

I have a sense that, just as we (Americans), can't really hear a bad British accent, most British people can't detect a bad American accent, so the producers and casting people just don't care enough to get someone who does a good job.

I wonder if anyone else that is from the US besides me actually likes the accent. I like the sound of it & think it's a pretty cool hybrid. It makes it more interesting to watch. Now I'm usually a sucker for UK accents but this one IMHO is rather nice to hear too.

It's pretty terrible. I didn't even realize she was trying to do an American accent until she had that sitdown chat with Trudi. That said, I don't really think she sounds all that Canadian either. I know another poster said she grew up in Canada, but there's definitely something weird going on with her voice. She sounds a bit like a woman I once knew who'd grown up in America but lived in England for years.

But they made the weather and then they stand in the rain and say 'S***!, it's raining!'

I absolutely hate when Brits do fake American accents, its sooooo telling it drives me absolutely crazy, because I hear their English accent come thru so clear, the actresses who portrayed Sally and Alice drove me crazy especially the Alice Character, but with that said I absolutely love this show!

If that bothers you, wait 'til the 3rd season when Alice pops up!
