Impact: Earth

I just saw this on The Science Channel as a two-hour special movie. I too think it was well done.

The financial hits on the economy, rioting, in-fighting, panic, evacuation scenes -- all plausible. The graphics throughout were quite good.

5 million dead ... or more. But not 100 million who live in the 15 states that would be decimated. Science, in my mind, can really help make those numbers realistic.

And a whole new world, at least from the point of view of North America. I'm torn. Facing a nuclear winter would scare me a LOT more than being at ground zero. I'm not important enough to think I could be part of a new world order.

Anyway, not a bad way to pass two hours when there is nothing else on TV.

The synopsis says 900 million to be evacuated, surely some mistake. But only one of many. I thought the effects were good and I enjoyed the film but it kept pretending to do the science thing and it fell a bit short there.
