hour episodes vs. half hour episodes?

Did they really film some episodes to be only half hour ones and some to be full hour ones?

The episodes on the Cooking channel are 1/2 hour and on the Food Channel, they're a full hour.

I realize they do a lot of editing regardless, but does Cooking channel only give them 1/2 hour for a reason, and they have to edit it even further?
