Most Americans don't like sports animes. To be honest,they are missing out on shows like Slam Dunk,Captain Tsubasa & Slam Dunk. I guess if they'll watch any sports anime,they'll watch Free...Ewwwwwwww!!!!!!

Well Hajime no Ippo is pretty big in the west I believe. But that's just one title I can think of that most westerners would talk about. Maybe Initial D also.
Anyway the way anime/manga handle the sport genre is the best I have ever seen. It is so motivating and emotional. It inspires you to do something with your life whatever it is. To me Slam Dunk was a life changing experience for me. I took up ballroom dancing because of it and I absolutely love it.
It's sad that Slam Dunk is slowly becoming a faded classic of the 90s. Maybe they should reboot it and this time include the national matches. I wanna see Shohoku vs Sannoh on my screen.

I don't think it needs a reboot. I just want them to animate the last 9 volumes,I wanna see the last two plays that Rukawa & Hanamichi make in anime format...it was emotional in the manga.
You're right,the anime is so motivating and make you feel with the characters..Especially Sakuragi.
