wish they made the whole thing a musical

That was great.. I'm only half way through, but if they wanted a musical type episode, they should be more of it, I'm enjoying it so far. Didn't know they (most of the them anyway) can sing so well, especially Abby and Magnus.. But then I haven't heard much of the others so far, Will is not so good, but he's trying.

Oops, I think I spoke too soon, the episode is mostly a musical, that was fun!

Glad you enjoyed it. I didn't so much, but to each their own. I think it would have been better if they'd had Will continue to sing in the uncomfortable, can't-stay-in-pitch way he started, instead of the studio processed dubbing.

I can't stand most musicals myself. I have a soft spot for Sweet Charity (played in the pit for it in high school) and I'd like to see Book of Mormon, but other than that.. But I decided to give the episode an open minded chance, because I was oddly entertained by the Bollywood dancing in a previous Sanctuary episode. I think I would've liked 'Fugue' better with more natural singing, though, instead of the obviously studio recorded and processed (and I'm sure, plenty of auto-tune) dubbing that we got. Natural and imperfect is so much more endearing to me than perfect and over-processed, and certainly more emotional.

In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.

Oh, that brings me back, I loved the Kali episodes and the dancing!! I love foreign films, and while Chinese are my favorite, I give quite a bit of my time to the best of Bollywood (but since they churn them out at a higher rate then Hollywood itself, it's hard to weed the good ones out, just like in Hollywood, where 1% of the gems get lost in the shuffle). Same can be said of Chinese films of course, but I have many online friends from the mainland and they recommend the best of the best, and I love their shows, such as Chinese Paladin or Heaven Sword and Dragon Sabre etc. Incredible dramatic, romantic, action, fantasy, all rolled into a great long 60 episode or greater show, they have really learned how to make incredible shows in China (mainland, not Hong Kong Cantonese stuff, their time has passed, the 80s were good, but since then nothing good has come from there, not really, it's all about Mandarin and the mainland now).

BTW, I'm Canadian and usually only watch Sci-Fi shows, but there are exceptions (such as the above mentioned, and I think the only current non-sci-fi show that I'm watching is The Boardwalk Empire, nothing else has caught my interest, oh and Dexter, but I'm not really into it, just watch it as I go, I'm up to season 3 and watch it in order, one episode a week, in a year or so I will catch up to the present, which is in the future at the moment, lol).

I don't mind a musical episode, but I demand a higher production value than what was demonstrated in the Fugue episode.

The Buffy musical episode was the most well done that I've seen. The music was spot on, The production was through the roof, it was as funny (or more) than a regular episode, it gave a ton of insight into all of the characters through song and drastically moved the plot along.

Could you let me know about Buffy. I watched the first season a year ago and didn't get to the second, it sort of reminded me of Supernatural, bad-dude of the week episodes and no real long plot line. Of course Supernatural became far more then that, and while I watch sci-fi mainly, I do like Fantasy.

So, is Buffy any good? Is it black/white as far as good/evil goes throughout the series or is there more depth to it then that? Especially now that True Blood and the Vampire Diaries are on, it would be hard for me to go to a show where every vampire is automatically considered a monster to be killed etc.

So, any input, should I watch it? I have all the seasons.

Like I said, Supernatural was like that for two seasons, but I hung in there, and after that it became a completely different show, with everything grey, nothing set in stone, good/evil blurred etc, which is much more like reality, and fantasy/sci-fi should be great drama first in another setting, that is what makes great sci-fi, not the space ships and special effects (eg. Battlestar Galactica, the battle scenes were the least important, I couldn't care less if they skipped them, it was the plot that was amazing).

The Buffy musical episode is 'Once More With Feeling'. Just go and find that one. It was important overall insofar it articulated the subtext of the relationships between the characters, something you probably won't care about if you haven't watched the series. You'll also see characters that didn't exist in the earlier series. So, read the synopsis (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0533466/synopsis) and decide for yourself.

That would be way too cheesy!
