Total rip-off of 'Human Weapon'

This thing is a complete rip-off of Human Weapon! Both shows are about two guys who travel around the world, learning different martial arts each week, and showing the viewer some techniques and history. And Human Weapon has been out for a year! At least don't make it so obvious! Shame on you, Discovery Channel!

reply

haha i just saw the commercial and thought so too.

Pirates 2 & 3 were AWFUL!!
Spiderman 3 is an abomination to the franchise!!

reply

That's what I thought. The guys even look alike (one guy that looks like James Roday and a bald guy that could've been a wrestler or a football player).

But some people don't get the history channel and do get discovery, so there is some justice. And if they show some more background and actually show the physics behind the strikes in by actually showing the formulas, I'll like it.

Another rip-off of a tv show that ripped off another show.

Post office sucks! 1 month to deliver a package that would've taken 47 minutes to deliver.

reply

Well nearly everything is a ripoff of another these days. But i sure as hell don't mind watching another fighting show.

reply

They came out at the same time, they both kind of rip-off a british show Mind, Body, Kick-ass moves.

reply

It definitely is, but fills the desire for this kind of show while Human Weapon is off air.

HW is better IMO, but one thing I like better about this show is both of them fight.

well both of those shows are total rip-offs of Deadly Arts. The thing is is that Fight Quest is way better than human weapon. The hosts are much more sincere and respectful of the instructors, and you can tell they are not just in it to be on tv like Jason Lambert obviously is.

reply

The amusing thing is it's all one network, History, Discovery, TLC, they're ripping themselves off to avoid having to have an original thought.

reply

Actually History is owned by A&E Television Networks while Discovery and TLC are owned by Discovery Communications, Inc.

I agree that it is a rip off, but I enjoy fight quest so much more. The hosts are better and they don't show those animations of how the attack will break a bone or knock you out. That to me tried to make the show something it wasn't. Know what I mean?

reply

the 2 of them also seem to like each other a lot more.

I hope to god they also do Ninjitsu that would ROCK

reply

Alot better than Human Weapon. Bill Duff is an embarassment to America. He's ignorant and has no heart. Chambers is okay, he seems to disaprove of Bill's commentsa and attitude aswell.

I have also noticed the other martial artists don't hold back as much as they did in Human Weapon. Atleast the TaeKwonDo Master knocked out Bill and Chambers faked an injury to avoid getting knocked out. .

reply

Fight Quest is MUCH BETTER than Human Weapon for many reasons.

reply

Fight Quest might be a similar show to Human Weapon...but it's just so much BETTER! These guys FIGHT at the end of their shows...Human Weapon is just like a sparring match...nobody gets hit hard. In Fight Quest, these dudes are gettin' their asses kicked in PRACTICE...we're talkin' about practice...not to mention at the end of the show where they really get their asses handed to them. Human Weapon is like your parents show...no blood, hard hits, or graphic violence. I'll watch both shows because I love MMA and fighting techniques, but Fight Quest is a better show...HANDS DOWN.

reply

How many shows are like this? I saw one with a bunch of guys. Maybe six or more. The only guy I remember is a real muscular black guy with dreadlocks.

reply

Man I have been trying to remember the name of the history channel version! I stopped watching at the Savate(maybe wrong spelling) because it was just really hard to watch, they did not seem to really want to learn it. Fight Quest is so much better than Human Weapon is. Its like when you were a kid and you watched Power Rangers and you totally thought you could do those moves, you feel like you might have actually learned something about the style. Even though you know if you tried to fight like that you would just look like an @ss and get it kicked. Favorite episode so far?

reply

Nope, its a rip-off of Rallarsving!

reply

When this show first came on yeah I thought it was a rip off. Was the idea borrowed from someone else? Yes, no argument there.

But Fight Quest executes better IMO. Both guys fight and they are absolutely beaten to death, no taking it easy.

reply

interstingly enough Fioghtquest is also doing Krav maga let's see how they do.

reply

"Nope, its a rip-off of Rallarsving! "

Awesome show! and funny as hell! Glad to see someone else knows about Rallasving.

I'll send you a brottogram as a prize ;D

reply

I much prefer fight quest as well. Like stated above, they actually fight, they are much more sincere and they are actually fairly smart fighters and don't piss me off. They also have a much better chemistry than the 2 guys on human weapon.

There is no teacher but the Enemy.- Ender

reply

Haha, thanks! :)
Rallarsving was the greatest, i have both seasons on the computer and watch it every once in a while.

But i much prefer Fight Quest over Human Weapon too.
They just seem more skilled, dedicated, and as stated has alot better chemistry and they actually has to work their asses off most of the time.

reply

Yah, I burnt both seasons on DVD. A couple of people were kind enough to translate and add subtitles to the t0rrents.

I like how the Rallarsving guys seem to be the best of friends even when there's no camera pointing at them.

reply

Where are you from then bukka15e?
Since im swedish i understand everything just fine. :)
And yes, they sure seemed to get along great.

Im thinking about going to Stockholm on a new mma event called superior challenge, Musse fights there.

reply

I am more than willing to say that yes, it is a ripoff. The best thing about Human Weapon is there is a lot of background and history of the fighting styles and where and why they originated. The bad thing about Human Weapon is there is a lot of background and history of the fighting styles and where and why they originated. I am more than willing to learn about history. That's not the problem. The problem is, if I want to watch a fighting show, I want to watch a fighting show. They spend half the time on Human Weapon doing the history, and half the time learning the styles, so there isn't a lot to them learning the styles. That's the thing I like more about Fight Quest. If I watch Fight Quest, and see something I find interesting and want to find out more about it, I try and find programs or DVD's to learn more. I love the History channel and the Discovery channel. So for me it's really the best of both, with an edge toward Fight Quest. And I also find it funny that Jimmy Smith has beaten Jason Chambers in MMA.
