shareThere is a video out there of Bill's last appearance on Red Eye and one of the other guests says something smart to Bill like "You should have taken what they offered" or words to the effect suggesting Bill was quitting because he wasn't getting paid enough. For a split sec Bill showed a pained expression and then caught himself and finished the episode without totally burning his bridges..at least to the viewing public.
It really looks like Fox groomed Greg for success with promotions, new shows, book deals, and writing/producing credits and thus left Bill out in the cold. I hate to say it's unfair but Red Eye is a 3AM show with too few viewers to produce more than one big star. Unfortunately Bill is now back to freelance writing, hopefully he can get another TV gig but right now he's languishing that's for sure.

That's the ten million dollar question. The show has never been the same without him. He played off of Greg and Andy's insults very well.
