Why don't they use the actual music from the shows?

Obviously, the TV producers of this show did not get the rights to use the actual television music from each show. It's too bad as that actually takes away from the documentary style of this tv presentation. I guess they did not want to fit the bill. It's odd seeing them talk about Dragnet using Dragnet-like music, but not the actual music itself.....

Thanks to the copyright laws and the way lawsuits have flooded the price of such things now in any reproduction, the cost of purchasing the rights to use the music clips would have been way out of budget.

It was Dragnet-like.

Or just totally not allowed! One of my favorite shows as a child, The Ghost and Mrs. Muir, is finally getting a legitimate release... in Australia!

They used very little "popular" music in that show, but in one episode, they have a little girl on the show singing Lavender Blue. The song was originally a pre-1800's folk song, but Disney used a special arrangement of the song for a 1947 movie called So Dear To My Heart, and that was the melody they used in the show back in 1969. Disney would not give their permission for the song to be used in the Dvd release.

Thank goodness the other episode that guest starred the late Harry Nillson was negotiated, and will be seen in its full unadulterated version!

How sad, that you were not born in my time, nor I, in yours.
