Is this set within the same cintinuity as the old films?

No, the last one they made was "Wildcats of St. Trinian" in 1980, which they tried to adapt to that period and it was a complete failure. This was more like two best ones "Blue Murder at St. Trinian's" and "The Great St. Trinian Train Robbery", but updated from the 1960's to modern times. I thought it was pretty successful, especially compared to most modern-day "teen" films. Teen, children, and adults could all potentially enjoy this on some level, while most modern-day Hollywood teen films are too mature for children and/or would make most adults want to put a bullet in their head.
