Underrated and misunderstood.

I think this film deserves more for its originality and unpredictability. I agree that it was not a film worth going to the cinema for but it was interesting and new. It was fun to watch on dvd and not too long. I have seen far worse films that have a much higher imdb rating. The acting wasn't nearly as horrible as haters make it out to be. I think people just expect the best medical students to be complete geeks. At my uni, which is ranked one of the best in the world, many of the brilliant medical students are anything but geeks.

What made this movie interesting is the psychology behind the characters which clearly was missed by most of the haters who have dissed the film and dismissed any character development as inexistent. Brilliant minds often get bored with the tediousness of what some may perceive impossible tasks. Hence why drugs are often used. They invent new ways to keep themselves from going insane with the monotony, which ironically makes them even crazier. Their obsession with the game is an indication of their insatiable ambition to be be the best. Linking this with the perverse sexual desires adds to the depth of the psychology of the characters.

If you gave this film a 1 or something ridiculous like that, it was completely unwarranted.

Brilliant minds my arse! Doctors learn a lot of their stuff by rote, by being told what to do, then by being thrown in the deep end where it's sink or swim. What a good doctor needs is a lot of determination, stamina and to keep up with the trends in his or her chosen area of interest.

A lot of really dumb doctors out there. Glorified robots.

God forbid someone to have a different opinion to yourself right?

I can't stand these type of complaints 'waaah, people clearly didn't understand the movie'. Just deal with it, there are people who hate this movie.

Don't you hate it when a signature looks like part of the post?

It's not unusual to see such threads in terrible films. You liked it, great. Others didn't. No need to write essays rationalizing your taste and how others are intellectually inferior for not liking it.

It was a stupid film, with characters who were not believable.

As for doctors being "brilliant minds", the second poster is somewhat right. It has a lot to do with rote memory and only few exceptional ones keep up with the current knowledge. In a 1st world country like the US, with all the resources and the top doctor salary, misdiagnosis is over 50% -- must take brilliant minds.

Yes, very underrated and misunderstood, much like another impressive Neveldine/Taylor movie, Gamer.
Their storylines and style do not appeal to everyone, especially close-minded people.
Both movies are unique, intense, thought-provoking, and I love them both, really don't give a *beep* about haters.

Boycott movies that involve real animal violence! (and their directors too)
