well the reviews are not good

so far pretty much below average reviews. im not really surprised though since youth without youth had terrible reviews as well.

One thing for certain: Ebert will be giving the film a positive review. I know this because he told me so, personally, on his blog.

I expect his rating will be 3 or 3 1/2 stars, though, since he didn't sound terribly enthusiastic about it. He'll consider it to be either good or very good, but not great.

I for one will watch this. It looks awesome to me

i wanna see it as well. im just saying. has coppola really made a great film since apocalypse now?

reply

I thought that Youth Without Youth was definately a great film.

The Cotton Club and Bram Stoker's Dracula were both very good, if not great efforts.

I still have to see both Peggy Sue Got Married and Tucker: The Man and His Dream. I've heard they're both excellent.

i like dracula and youth without youth. but honestly i dont think they are Great. i'd give each one an 8/10. im just saying. i hope tetro is amazing! but im worried coppola is more worried about his wine empire than movies these days.

reply

True. The whole reason as to why Coppola made Jack, anyway, was so that he could support his wine business (and because Robin Williams owns the wine business with him, and they hadn't ever gotten a chance to make a movie together).

I don't know if Tetro will be a masterpiece (unlikely), or even as great as Youth Without Youth, but I'm happy that Coppola is finally getting the chance to make the kind of film he has always wanted to make.

I'm just upset that it's not coming to St. Louis.

I saw this yesterday. I thought the first 90 minutes was fascinating and wonderful. It kind of goes off kilter the last half hour or so, so I don't think it's a great film, but it's a pretty damn good one.

So true, Icebox! I was able to view this today at the Brooks Art Museum in Memphis, TN. After the film was over, we had a Q&A via Skype with Coppola and he compared himself to Benjamin Button. He made the movies he never thought he could make very early in his career (The Godfather) and now, he said, he's making the movies he's always wanted to make much later in life, like Youth Without Youth and Tetro. The man is very grateful for the career he has had and is still looking forward into the future to make the lower budget, smaller films he thought he would be making. He told us he didn't want to write a novel or a memoir, he loves cinema and wants to continue writing personal stories and directing them. Power to you, Mr. Coppola. If your next films are as stunning as Youth Without Youth and Tetro then I hope you live to be 100.

Tucker was very good.

don't leave out "Rumblefish"- i found it amazing

Then I'm not alone! Thank God the reviews are not good. If they were I'd seriously doubt my ability to discern the difference between good and bad cinema.

It's a Great Movie, but a Great Movie isn't everyone's cup of tea. You probably will love it if the idea of a light motif with its own leitmotif makes you smile; you probably won't if you're really excited about the new Transformers movie. If you fall somewhere in between, give it a try. The worst thing that could happen is you see a Great Movie you weren't crazy about.

Me, I can't wait to see it again on the big screen.

this has over 60 on Rt, I wouldn't call the reviews "not good"

Francis didn't make this to be a blockbuster movie so why are there idiots that are expecting it to be 1.

Obviously none of twits have seen interviews Francis did about Tetro.

He doesn't need money, fame and all that crap.
When your rich like Francis you can do whatever the hell you want.

Some of you need to stop taking whatever your taking and grow your brain cells back you've lost honestly.

I have my own opinions...shock...horror

That's where he went wrong. Just do what you can do, and know your limitations.
