Movies that are much worse that this have gotten sequels. Why don't Disney pull their finger out and get to work on a sequel to Sorcerer's Apprentice?

I haven't seen this so I can't critique it, but if you're just comparing movies by some unspecified quality criteria, then be advised that sequels are made for movies that were financially successful. Scooby-Doo (2002) was low rated on IMDb and critically, but it made money. It got a sequel. The sequel was rated about the same but made $95M less, so no third installment.
The Sorcerer's Apprentice made $215M ww vs prod budget $150M. That doesn't do it.
