A Rant - THIS should be everyone's concern

NOT reality TV shows, favorite entertainer's where abouts or your favorite flick of the week you rented. I was hoping more comments would be posted here in general about this film and topic. Many people are ignoring the obvious. It is good to spread the word on this film. I just watched a 33 minute clip on lycos.com I am frightened by the future of the US financial system, government, standard of living, and greenback if drastic change is not put into place now.

reply

well it's just starting to make it's way around the Internet hopefully millions of people will check it out.

What's more dangerous than sincere ignorance?

reply

Luckily, many Americans are getting upset at bailed out companies using tax money for unearned bonuses. It's causing us to wake up out of our stupor and get more engaged.

That's a good thing.

No two persons ever watch the same movie.

Unfortunately it seems a lot of those people are getting more angry then informed from what I've seen.

Actually, this is just rampant alarmism at its near very best. The problems cited in this film are no where near as bad as they are in real life. Don't get me wrong, the USA faces serious fiscal problems that were caused by the better part of 30 years of (mostly GOP) fiscal mismanagement, but there are no quick fixes to them.

Strange that you would say that. 3 years later we are in much worse shape than they projected we would be in. If anything they understated the problem...

"3 years later we are in much worse shape than they projected we would be in."

I'm sorry, but that's sheer & utter nonsense.

reply

I'm looking at numbers that they predicted and they are much worse now that their predictions. Total debt is higher, Social Security is no longer running a surplus, etc.

What are you basing your claim on?

"Total debt is higher, Social Security is no longer running a surplus, etc."

Baloney...the U.S. federal deficit is plunging (and is on track to be cut in half from its recent peak under GWB policies)...due to higher federal revenue (by around 15%) & lower federal spending (by around 5%), and the Social Security Trust Fund is continuing to grow.

"Social Security will take in more money than it pays out, roughly $28 billion more in 2013."

"What are you basing your claim on?"

Actual facts...of which there really are very few in this fear-mongering "documentary".

reply

That is hilarious... First off I didn't say deficit, I said debt but $1.08 trillion to $973 billion is not "plunging" either number is disgusting. Off topic but why does the white house preach higher taxes non stop if they are taking in record revenue? I don't see how the 2nd and 3rd article helps your argument. They state that things are slightly better than the worst ever. I also don't buy their 2014 estimate. I'll let you know you are wrong on Dec 31st 2014.

Didn't see that about SS surplus. I will look into it and see if they are spinning it because I know for a fact they were not running a surplus 2 years ago...

"First off I didn't say deficit, I said debt"

Of course, it's kind of hard to bounce back from over a decade's worth of federal debt accumulation from bad GWB policies like a War in Iraq for no good reason, a Medicare expansion that was never paid for, and the biggest economic downturn in U.S. history since the Great Depression (that was mostly caused by past GOP-sponsored deregulation) in just a few years time, but I wouldn't expect the likes of you to know anything about that.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:CBO_Forecast_Changes_for_2009-2012.png

The fact is that we're well on our way to cutting the federal deficit (that GWB left us all) by around 50% in just a few years time, period.

"Off topic but why does the white house preach higher taxes non stop if they are taking in record revenue?"

Because part of the reason that federal revenues are up in the first place is because of the recent tax hikes, which were almost exclusively on rich people. Again, I don't expect the likes of you to even begin to comprehend that fact.

"I don't see how the 2nd and 3rd article helps your argument"

...because you probably haven't even read them or understand them.

"I also don't buy their 2014 estimate."

Who cares what you "buy"?? You have brought exactly zero facts to the table in this pointless conversation.

"I'll let you know you are wrong on Dec 31st 2014."

No you won't, but again...who cares??

"Didn't see that about SS surplus."

Again, I'm not surprised, but it's just more par for the course from your end. When one brings exactly ZERO verifiable facts to the table, then one can't expect to get any respect from others...run along now...

These issues have already been hashed out long ago in other threads about this very same movie...go read them & quick wasting everyone's time here with your nonsense "electricafroman".

Nice comeback. You should change your user name to Ad Hominem...

The reason not many comments is possibly because virtually nobody heard of this doc when it came out (or afterwards -- it is mid-2016 and I *just* heard of it. And I consider myself "awake" about globalist lies, the controlled MSM, etc...)

After seeing the ridiculous fearmongering and panic-based economic response to the Brexit vote, this kind of documentary seems all the more important to be viewed and shared and talked about.

You and I, as individuals, can, by borrowing, live beyond our means, but for only a limited period of time.
*Why, then, should we think that collectively, as a nation, we're not bound by that same limitation? We must act today in order to preserve tomorrow.*
