How close was Morgan Spurlock..

..to finding Osama?

They killed him in Abottabad. What city was Morgan Spurlock head for when he turned back?

reply

Yes, I wonder about this.

And what happened to the "sovreignty" of Pakistan preventing American pursuit there? I guess that went away.

It would be impressive if he was right near where Osama was finally found.

He turned back while still in Afghanistan, at the Pakistani boarder ... in the mountains where many people believe Osama was "hiding in caves."

The people he met in Pakistan all told him bin Laden was in the region of Waziristan- he was not. Waziristan is along the Afghan boarder and Abbottabad is closer to India than it is to Afghanistan. So, Spurlock really wasn't close at all.

reply

Wasn't he in Islamabad? That's only about 25 miles away from Abbottabad. So he was pretty close.

reply

Yeah at one point he was physically close to him, but he didn't know or think that at the time. He wandered around a lot in the middle east so at one point or another he would have been close, no matter where bin Laden was hiding.

By the OP's question, I thought he meant, how far was Osama from where Morgan Spurlock thought he was.

But he had no idea, really. That was part of the point of the movie. Nobody had any idea or at least that's what they claimed. By "close" I thought the OP meant in distance, what was the closest he got physically.

reply

Pakistan is not in the middle east...

reply

Well the ending seemed so staged, so I guess they weren't close to finding him at all. I guess he just needed an interesting ending.
