Why did they make her character American when she is hopeless at an American accent? It distracts you from every scene she is in. She should've stuck to her own accent. I didn't think much of her acting either. Her friend Nicole Kidman can't do a convincing American accent either. Mind you, neither of them are as bad as Hugh Laurie in House!
Her speech did distract me somewhat, but moreso her acting. She can be really really good in some films, but in this one she just annoyed me, she had twitches like flicking her hair, pouting her mouth. And her hair always seemed to be the centerpiece, sometimes strands wistfully flowing in her face at meetings, sometimes struggling between going under the scarf or over the scarf. And running in high heels is always a joke. In the end, she really did not portray her caracter well at all. She did not come off as an intelligent investigative type. Maybe she's the kind of actress that needs strong direction?
***So I've seen 4 movies/wk in theatre for a 1/4 century, call me crazy?**
Just saw this movie and liked it---I didn't find jack wrong with Naomi Watts' accent---she sounded fine to me--if I hadn't already known she was Australian, I never would've guessed she wasn't. The shootout was pretty remarkable---I liked how the hitman and the agent managed to keep getting guns and shooting,no matter what. The film wasn't your typical, paint-by-the-numbers Hollywood thriller, which is probably why it wasn't a big hit. Seems like the Occupied folks in any city would enjoy this, since a major bank is the main villain/culprit in it!
