Revy loves Rock!

I think that if the second season showed anything, it's that Revy loves Rock, and that Rock loves Revy!

When I say that Revy loves Rock, I'm talking about the fact that I see them being husband and wife 10 to 15 years later in the future.

I say 10 to 15 years because sooner or later Revy is going to get too old to be bouncing around the place with her cutlasses. Sooner or later her body is not going to let her be as athletic as she is now, and when that happens she is going to realize that it is time for her to retire. And when that happens, she will go for Rock.

revy will tell rock she loves him and then she will be shot and die and rock will be sad...or something like that.

I wouldnt get my hopes up. Its likely that Rock loves Revy but i dont think its mutual. Revy is seriously *beep* up in the head. She properly do care for Rock and the others but the only thing she truly loves is properly killing people.

And, we know who the boss of the family will be! hehe

Probably the manga guys know about this better than us, but I see the Revy-Rock relationship as one of these relations that everyone wishes to happen but in that case the anime will lose attractive. So I expect in the third season (I can't wait!) Revy & Rock gets slowly closer and closer but the relation doesn't culminate.

That would be cool, Xupito.

I kinda agree with that as far as the series goes but I'm just saying that as far as the future goes I see Revy clinging on to Rock. I am well aware that the future I am speaking of is one we'll never see. However, I just wanted to point out that in the future for Rock and Revy that we will never see, they will be together.

I always thought the closing credits foreshadowed a tragic end, for Revy at least. We'll see if that changes for the 3rd season. But they'll always be together in fan fic and deviantART!

reply

Yeah the credits totally make me think Revy won't make it through the series either.

Way I see it, if Revy dies, the series is done.

As River was the unspoken main character of 'Firefly', Revy is absolutely the main character of Black Lagoon. That doesn't mean she can't die, I just imagine the episode in which she dies being the last of the series.

On another note, if it is ever leaked that Revy will in fact die, I will be done with this series on the spot. Even though I abuse her endlessly in my fiction, I absolutely adore Revy and could never stand to watch her die...even though she's a fictional animated character ;)

Isn't something as for sing them: "Revy and Rock, sitting in a tree..."

I think it is less a love-hate relationship, and it seems more as "The unstoppable against the immovable" Situation.

After watching the entire series (including Roberta's Blood Trail) I'm inclined to think that there are some feelings of attraction between Rock and Revy but it will never culminate into anything more than that.

I strongly disagree that any characters other than Benny will be married within 10-15 years and I certainly don't ever see Revy married, especially with Rock. Clearly Revy has feelings for Rock and I bet they do remain partners and having a connection but beyond possibly hooking up once in a while it will never go past that.

Rock is too much like...Rock (he's always in his head and he will probably never stop trying to save people) and Revy has too much sh*t that she's suppressing or it to ever be a healthy relationship.

The second season shows that Revy has a possibly unhealthy infatuation with Rock. Wouldn't call it love at all. As for Rock, he's too wrapped up in his own little world.

They both need way way more character development to ever have any kind of stable relationship of that kind. I think Revy especially is likely too far gone. Could be wrong. They also would make weird *beep* buddies, like their tastes would be completely opposite.

Then again, we haven't really seen what Rock is all about yet. His dice hasn't finished rolling. The third season showed that pretty clearly. It feels like they are going for the intelligent criminal mastermind type. I wouldn't be surprised if by the end of it all, Rock is running Ruanapur.

Rock is running Ruanapur

I just finished Roberta's Blood trail, which ended my somewhat binge watching all of Black Lagoon. I felt it was leading to just that, with Rock seeming like quite the Chessmaster.

Revy clearly shows attraction for Rock. She is protective of him and even acts jealous sometimes. She also considers him a fish out of water and even tried to get him to go back home to Japan.

I believe that as Fabiola points out in the end, Revy is emotionally attached (if not in love with) Rock because of his innocence, his being in the twilight. Revy wants him to return to his old life before he is beyond saving. He exists in corruption but resists it and even tries to save people from it. Revy grew up in corruption and she is corrupt. Maybe she wants Rock to save her just as much as she is trying to save him. I had even entertained the idea that the entire over-arching plot would be one of Revy's redemption, but I do not necessarily feel that anymore.

It seems a Catch-22, which has me less than satisfied, but I feel as though Rock will maintain his "innocence" and will continue to try to protect and save those he can. This will endear him even further to Revy, but any culmination of their feelings relies on such being mutual and the two surviving to a time when they would express and reciprocate them.

I also think that would mean the end of the story, so that may be part of the reason it is not happening anytime soon, if at all.
