Much too far fetched to be credible

charcoal gas masks used as underwater breathing apparatus?

a fully equipped drugs factory inside a prison?

managing to punch a guy just right so you knock out his diamond tooth (diamond which looks to be several carats in weight!) and then attaching it to a pipe firmly enough to make a tool to cut through a metal plate?

having a prison ventilation system conveniently leading into a disused tube station?

come on...?!

absurd!

Not to mention every cliché in the book - getting your foot trapped in the train tracks as the train is approaching. Please!

Pity, because the performances are terrific.

yes, I am aware that it is Frank's dream, but the plan for the escape is presumably the same.

Theo - I do agree with you basically yes. I accept the point about the popularity of diamonds with gangsters too. The problem with that is really how on Earth he could anchor the diamond sufficiently strongly for it to be able to do such a tough job. Not really feasible.

Still...the wonder of the cinema is about the suspension of disbelief, so i shall try not to be too geeky about it!

As for you, cesetevi, you are a complete knob for doing that! It's not the way to make friends on IMDB for sure!

I really did not find realistic the diamond tooth or whatever it is. I agree with sc.

After reading Frank's sacrifice reminded me of Clint Eastwood's Gran Torino, he sacrifices his life to save Chinese boy's life.

reply

On behalf of all the people who haven't watched Gran Torino yet: thanks for ruining the ending for us mate.

Ever heard of spoilers?

He was Hmong.

I didn't understand how the guards pinned Tony's death on Lacey so quickly when there were no eye witnesses. I thought that everyone keeps their mouth shut in a situation like that. Why be realistic about some parts of prison life and then unrealistic about others.

I agree. Also the escape itself was really uninspired. If a movie is going to fall back on the old cliche method of escaping through air vents and sewers, then there has to be some clever twist to it that the audience didn't see coming, like the poster/bible in Shawshank. Yeah he was a ghost, but that didn't make the escape seem any more believable. I was hoping for a little more.
