What a load of crap.

What a load of crap: it reminded me of eraserhead.
This is how not to make a documentary.
The teeth bit was badly done, and the models look fantastic as they would in a starving prison – it was all just done so wrong.
Could have been great but alas it was bad.

I wouldn't call it BAD but I have to admit the wait was not worth the hype. Maybe I'm jaded but it didn't seem that brutal to me and I had a problem with a lot of the scenes just looking fake. I didn't feel anything towards the "test subjects" in the film.

I know it's a pseudo documentary and all these horrible acts took place but to me it just didn't do the "trick".

A very admirable effort but seems like the extra years that it took to finish the film, made it outdated in a way. The shock value is definitely not there.
Even as a pseudo doc, not that good...unfortunately. I had high hopes for this one.

Aw, your buns smell like lox, honey! I can smell them. From here!

First off, are you kidding me? This is not a porno its not supposed to 'do the trick' or get anybody's rocks off.

Gore looking fake or not is far from the worst thing about this movie.

Pardon the pun but its not very well fleshed out (and mind you in a 4 hour movie its hard not to).

And to go back to my original comment about gore not being porn, id like to say the same thing to the person who made this film... believe me i am far from a prude about gore and enjoy it in certain movies but really it was utilized in such a im going to shock you way. Yes we get that this is a true story, these horrible things happened but to draw things out for so long and focus on the monstrous acts as opposed to the the story its self.

Firstly? Well, did I say anything about it being sexually arousing? Where do you get the porno reference from? It didn't do the trick for me, in the sense that I FELT NOTHING for the victims. I had more lip trembling and horrified moments during Schindler's List.
Don't interpret what I say, when you seem to have no idea where I'm coming from.

Gore looking fake or not is far from the worst thing about this movie.

So just because you think the film is so horrid, no one should be allowed to make comments about the production values? Should we all just nod our heads and chant how great and horrific the film is? Go blow.

K, you brought up the gore = porn argument so why are you even focusing on that?
It wasn't even a discussed until now. And that's a WHOLE different convo.

And I don't disagree that this film was made to shock. Everything about it screams shock value. I realize that.
BUT in a way, it wasn't that shocking. And if you knew the history of the film, you would have know iot was going to be a "gore" fest. It was never meant to be a docu about the horrors the victims went through psychologically. It was made to SHOW what was done. In the worst possible way.

You felt nothing for victims? You must be a heartless moron not to feel about their helplessness.

*sigh*

Like I said before. To me it felt fake. I could NOT bring myself to watch it as a "documentary". Do you think I would say that about the ACTUAL victims in Unit 731?
NO!
It was my take on the film and why I did not like it as much. I didn't feel anything for the victims IN THIS FILM.
Way to concentrate on the wrong thing ass.

@dalifemme-77

yeah, it's hard to have a discussion with people that misconstrue and misrepresent your statements.

reply

It's strange how willingly and even proudly do people declare themselves as being psychopaths, on IMDB fora. This really isn't directed only to you, dalifemme. There are so many of you, and so vocal. Also on the Men Behind the Sun, hurrying to show how little effect the movies had on them.

reply

Are you saying a person is a paychopath if they are not disturbed by this badly made movie?

reply

Eraserhead? What?

Let's compare the similarities between the two: They're both movies, they're both black and white, they both have surreal moments, uh... um... they both have sound? They both have characters? Uh.....

Okay, they have nothing else in common. Good job.

reply

How dare you compare this piece of garbage to Eraserhead!

The last thing horror fans should be is elitist.
