Amen to that pal...
I absolutely agree with you on anything you said there, problem is how do you get the message across to anyone? It doesn't really pay off to try and get a real in-depth analysis on anything when there is so much junk food in any media format readily available out there, served by people who are more than happy to stroke their particular selected audience's ego as well as theirs (while considerably fattening their wallets in the process, in most cases).
Most people find deep solace to hear the comforting words of their selected preacher of choice, it makes them feel self-righteous and absolved of their shortcomings, it gives them reassurance and motivation to carry on with their lives by holding on to the prejudice that if something goes wrong it's always "the other's side's" fault.
Should we be surprised that Alan Curtis, the most talented and in-depth political documentary maker of this century, is one of the least talked about even though his work is freely available all over the web? Not that surprising actually when you consider that the very last thing he does in his work is licking his audience's bottom.
(I might sound partial on that, ironically, but I can give plenty of reasons why I think Curtis is on a very different league from Moore, O'Reilly, Hannity, Maher, Alex Jones and all the other famous "preachers" out there).
As a matter of fact you can just make a point for that particular argument right here: it has been almost 6 years since you put that message and no one seemed to find it interesting enough to bother to reply, while every single troll made inflamatory post on any of the big "political pundits" message boards out there gets a prompt reply within hours.
(Before we get too hopeful I just want to remind I'm not even American, that might explain why I bothered to reply. Sorry to sound condescending, but it's just a disheartening constatation on my side there).
