I could have swore I've seen this years ago

Its strange, this movie came out a little over a week ago but every single part was familiar to me, to the point of I knew what was going to happen, is this a remake or something? Cause I swear I've seen this like YEARS ago

reply

No, actually this movie, like many others, suffers from a painful illness called PREDICTABILITY. I enjoyed this movie, but I've seen it done a hundred times. And many of the times, William R. Moses was in the movie, just like he is here. They should've called the movie deja vu because of all the cliches they tossed together to make this movie. You're not wrong in thinking you've seen this movie before. You probably have, just with a different cast and a different title. Everything else is the same.

Well.....this does seem to be a remake of an old Stephanie Zimbalist/William Shatner/Patty Duke film.

reply

I was thinking it was a lot like The Babysitter (Zimbalist/Duke/Shatner.)

Definitely! You can see what's going to happen a million miles away. But it sure is fun though.

And it's an awful lot like The Hand That Rocks the Cradle. Lots of people think they saw it years ago, but it was made for TV just this year.

It reminds me a lot of Wicked with Julia Stiles only because William was in that too; not exactly the same storyline, but still recognizable. The whole "seduced by a young woman", trying to kill the wife, etc. part.

You may be thinking of Coronation Street years and years ago. When David was a toddler aged about two, Gail and Martin hired an au pair to help out and she became infatuated with Martin (as if!) and started doing nasty things to get Gail off the scene. She kept trying to come on to Martin. It was all very similar to the film I watched last night, which was called The Sitter and not While the Children Sleep as it is on here.

reply

Yeah, the 'infatuated with Martin' thing was really stretching it.

P.S. No matter what this film was called, it was bloody awful. They should have a thread on this message board listing just how many holes there were in the plot, for instance, when the sitter ripped all her bedding to shreds only for us to see it completely in tact when the lady of the house finds her dress and the trip wire in her jeans pocket.

I came to the boards for the exact same reason, thinking i had seen a movie with the same plot many years ago; just wanted to remember the name and as it had been given here, it was called ''The Hand That Rocks the Cradle''.

It's an LMN movie, they're all like this. Up next in 7 minutes on LMN is "The Perfect Nanny", two hours after this movie aired.

Spooky.
