Why pick this movie instead of Let the Right One In to submit to the Academy last year????? Maybe then Sweden would have actually gotten a nomination for best foreign film instead of being the laughing stock of the Academy Awards.

It was on the 9 film short list before the final nominations where announced. I would hardly call that being "a laughing stock"...
Besides, Let the Right One In was not even half as good as this masterpiece.
Now, when we sent Ondskan on the other hand, that was embarrassing...
These films are equal masterpieces, within their own genres. LTROI is one of the best vampire films to have come out in the past decade and this film is simply mesmerizingly beautiful in style and substance.

I kind of agree, to a point. I was really hoping this movie would be more about her photography, and less about her husband. There was not a great balance, and I felt it just dragged to be honest. I still enjoyed it, but LTROI is miles ahead, imo.
