not great.

I try to support gay/lesbian cinema whenever I can. And there are some great 'gay'-themed films out there... But this doesn't come close... Stereotypical, one-dimensional characters meet thin plot lines and mediocre acting. We've seen this before, done much better....

although I will say my favorite actor in the film was the girl who played Andy. I thought she did commendable job.

I couldn't agree with you more. The woman who played Andy was really fantastic. I wish that her story were elaborated on.

I couldn't even see where the film was going and I cared very little about any of the characters, especially the lead.

reply

Yeah, wow. Within 5 minutes I could feel the "Gay indy film" stereotypes pounding into my skull.

reply

Are any of you actually gay? Because I am and I was moved.

Who wants to see this? I didn't find it moving nor entertaining. Like previously stated, I really try to support gay cinema but this was horribly mis cast, extremely self-rightous, non compassionate and extremely dry. Andie was cool and so was the junkie but I had to wonder if he OD'd because he loved Trevor, fustrated because he now had nothing in his life except frugs or he was just sick about making such a pointless film. His was the only performance I found credible. It came off like dialouge scenes in a bad porn movie or a bad reality show when no one can get comfortable because there is a camera in the room. Sorry ... it's a stinker.

I had low expectations because of the avg rating. That may be the reason why I really enjoyed it, but I really don't think so.

I liked the script, acting and storyline. None were flawless, but they were better than I expect from the studios. However, it did fall flat on its derriere in one respect for me: The music seemed to have been done by an 18 year old who "loves music" and wants to "enlighten" the rest of us. I'm not a fan of music video-like sequences in films, but this one really has three too many. If the sequences were omitted and, otherwise, if they'd let up on the music some, this film would transform from a 7 out of ten to a 9 very easily.

Not even good. I couldn't get involved with or cared about any of the characters. Story was mostly boring and not realistic at all. The only two I liked were Ephram (Eli Kranski) and Jake (Jay Brannan). Maybe if those two had got it on... The main character, Trevor was poorly cast and not very attractive or personable. I agree - skip this one.

I have to say that I saw this twice and don't think much of this one. I that I want whatever time I spent downloading this added back to my day because it just wasn't something that I saw merit in. I fell asleep on this one because it was just---terrible. I don't think the script would've been useful as toilet paper. The characters were just one dimensional, Trevor seems like a guy that can hardly make up his mind and it's more or less pathetic in the execution. Ephraim was well cast I think and he really did go a little over the top in the bedroom scene when Trevor brought over dinner but otherwise was a sight for sore eyes. THe friend Jake was just--need I say more. Andy was nice, I liked seeing her she was really good at portraying a woman who was infected with HIV in the worst way--and she was poignant in the portrayal..all in all 1 out of 4 and it is sure to make its way to LOGO very soon--in fact I saw this on LOGO website as a movie imagine that. Coffee Date was ten times better!

Why must a gay movie be this depressing?

reply

I agree. I didn't even notice much of Andie in the film either probably because of my overall confusion with where the film was supposed to be going...or crashing

I agree 100%. It seemed like the script was 30 minutes long and the writer & director decided to fill the rest with really bad indie music. It was 5 minutes of story then a song, 5 more minutes then another song, 5 more minutes and ANOTHER f*ing song. It became unbearable. The Andie and Darrell storylines were more interesting than the love story.

Jamie Lee Curtis survived Halloween, the Fog, Prom Night and a Terror Train & now she can't poop!
