SAW IT, HATED IT spoilers, not that there's anything to spoil!

I just got back from the screening at Screamfest LA and am dumbfounded. It's not a horror movie. It's an outdoor adventure flick that plays like an educational scare film warning us about the dangers of hiking with unlicensed guides! We kept waiting for some mutant cannibal hillbillies to attack, or at least some vile, desperate criminals holding hostages or guarding stolen loot... ANYTHING!

The centerpiece of the movie is a nasty, graphic amputation scene that boasts good make-up FX, but the whole thing was much better in the underrated RUINS. Eion Bailey is a terrific, charismatic actor, but the wafer-thin script gives him nothing to do but grimace in agony. We do get several nice shots of his hot hairy washboard-sculpted stomach.

Who paid for this??! Would they like to make a real horror movie with a real script?! Contact me. There's a great part for Eion in it, actually.

A bizarrely empty, unthrilling, grueling waste of everyone's time. Spare yourself.

I take it it is like Open Water in a canyon with wolves.

Haha yeah I was just about to post something here saying I just watched the trailer and it's basically Open Water.

Not to defend the movie (it has "Direct to Video" written all over it, or more likely "Direct to Basic Cable"), but I kind of like the fact that there aren't any mutant cannibal hillbillies or vile, desperate criminals. That whole trope is played out. Playing on the expectation that Will Patton is going to lead them into some kind of cliched horror film scenario and then swerving into a man-vs-nature style survival scenario is a refreshing change of pace. At least its not another cookie-cutter "we bought the script from a homeless guy for $7 and half a cheeseburger, so just watch people die for an hour and a half" movie.

Hahahahaha. Though I have to say that that is a very generous price. Probably they would have given him the $7 anyway.

i think it's cause she didn't want to wolves to get at him and she thought she'd be dead soon.

reply

yeh the wolves would of probley ate him alive

the movie wasnt bad at all and it had a ending like the mist
probley worth a 6.5/10

reply

Not very good at all no.. Give it 3/10 rating and thats only cus i got to see Yvonne Strahovski in panties at the very begining.

At least one of the key wolf scenes was done well, even if it came during the last 15-20 minutes.

"This class. . . I've died and gone to hell haven't I?"
