SAW IT, HATED IT spoilers, not that there's anything to spoil!
I just got back from the screening at Screamfest LA and am dumbfounded. It's not a horror movie. It's an outdoor adventure flick that plays like an educational scare film warning us about the dangers of hiking with unlicensed guides! We kept waiting for some mutant cannibal hillbillies to attack, or at least some vile, desperate criminals holding hostages or guarding stolen loot... ANYTHING!
The centerpiece of the movie is a nasty, graphic amputation scene that boasts good make-up FX, but the whole thing was much better in the underrated RUINS. Eion Bailey is a terrific, charismatic actor, but the wafer-thin script gives him nothing to do but grimace in agony. We do get several nice shots of his hot hairy washboard-sculpted stomach.
Who paid for this??! Would they like to make a real horror movie with a real script?! Contact me. There's a great part for Eion in it, actually.
A bizarrely empty, unthrilling, grueling waste of everyone's time. Spare yourself.
