Both were try-to-survive-alone-in-the-wild movies. Both were trapped-in-rocks-and chop-off-a-limb movies. They even reference the guy who chopped off his arm in a rock before she does it. Anyone have any thoughts about the two in comparison to each other?

I loved them both! And I was thinking about that very same movie just a few seconds before she mentioned it in the movie herself. Both were very good, each in their own way, the other was more intense on his part, this one was intense on her part....made a woman out of her. Hope she keeps her sanity. Not sure I could after that.

It's pretty obvious The Canyon stems from the same book that 127 Hours is based on (forgot the title).
This movie came out a year earlier, but the guy character even mentions out loud about the book. And then the helicopter rescue at the end. Same exact story, just different and additional characters. Not a biggie.
