dumb machist ideas

This soap opera is ridiculous!

How on earth can a woman love a man that has beat and RAPED her?????

In this soap opera the male protagonist rapes and beats the female protagonist and what happens. He says he is sorry and she fall completely in love with him. Dumb.

Ridiculous? Have you actually tried to get some real info? For unbelievable it appears, this situation has happened in real life. And is not as uncommon as you may think.

And the machist aspects are dumb and ridiculous, yes, BUT ON PURPOSE. Many men are like this in real life, doing stupid things, saying that they are "real machos" and everything, and feeling like they were the emperor of Rome (it's a shame, 'cause they just embarrass and give a bad name to us men as a whole).

What makes it ridiculous to us is the fact that they held this sick, twisted relationship up as if it were something beautiful and loving. If they'd shown a woman get raped and forgive her rapist, only to realize in the end that it was a huge mistake, then that would not have been a bad thing. However, it basically condoned rape within boyfriend-girlfriend relationships by showing the relationship between this young woman and her rapist as an ideal relationship between soulmates. THis is problematic considering how rampant such things as domestic abuse and date rape are. It's a bad example to both male and female viewers, and it's offensive to women.

I couldn't agree more. It's absolutely offensive, degrading, and disgusting that they had the main character end up living "happily ever after" with her RAPIST. It also sends a very bad message out to viewers by showing that rape is not so bad and should be forgiven if a man gets angry sometime, just as long as he claims that he is in love the woman. The reason why he was angry to begin with was because he mistakenly THOUGHT she was seeing another man, although he himself had slept with the 3 or 4 other women who were constantly fighting over him. The "hero" of this story was a filthy, sexist animal through and through--much like the writers who brought him to life to begin with.
