This is on Comedy Central and was wondering WHY Adam didn't at least try to keep up with whatver workout regimen they had him on. If I was paid by a studio to look good I'd try to keep up!

I agree with the OP that Sandler looks good in this movie. I also think in Pixels his old, scraggly appearance was the point. Old, fat gander guy, almost a loser type, who couldn't be counted on to take the garbage out to the road...is now suddenly counted on to save the world. Doesn't exactly instill a lot of confidence in the viewer as the hope of the future.
