Belinda's accent?

Does anyone else think Belinda is talking with a southern accent? I am from the south and I still think I am catching some sort of accent, but isn't the character from New York and the actress from California? I'm only half way through and I think she's doing a good job, but I just wondered if anyone else thought the same thing or if I am just crazy.

The character is from New York and I did detect a Southern accent too.

It actually sounds to me like a Christian bible thumper kind of accent, which seemed to fit well with the character.

yes, it'a s strong accent and it's hilarious. particularly since i am watching this right after having seen love's unending legacy where belinda first shows up, without any accent at all.
