It took till Chapter 9 to get a story.

I feel this game was lost in what it was suppose to be, it tried to make us feel that it is a open world game, with GTA aspects of being about to drive around, then in Chapter 9 it is all thrown out the window and we turn to real Final Fantasy.

Some may complain that FF X is Linear but they in fact all actually are in their own way. FF 7 was, it's just that later on in the game you get a airship and can go anywhere I could never understand why people though FFX was so linear compared to the rest.

FF XV thought it was open world, it really was trapped in what identity it was. you go around with stupid side quests that is so 'wow' like of grinding and MMO clone of hunting monsters for money or fishing and the skills that thought the game had to be like World of Warcraft, like fishing and cooking. then it thought it would add the car in to try and please the GTA generation.

This game also did something strange that the first 2/3ds of the game it is open world, but the story really is all over the place it really isn't till Chapter 9 when Luna dies that it finally has a story.. why???? because it stops right there from open world and becomes interesting. in the past FF games would start off Linear then you would move to open world and start the world map.

I don't think this game knew what it wanted to be.. I hated the combat it was boring and just hitting o 90% of the time. with the same character, I can't even control the other 3 characters, the turn based system sadly is gone for us older folks that grew up with early FF games

I really liked the game, overall, but I agree that it's at its strongest during the more linear sections, from Chapter 9 onward.

Yeah my verdict is in. Not really a FF until Chapter 9 so this is by far the worst title yet.

I liked it up until Chapter 9. It just got so dang depressing around that point. And I would agree with your statement that this game didn't know what it wanted to be. It had elements of GTA, Tomb Raider, even Resident Evil in it. It was a Final Fantasy game, but it really kind of lacked that certain "oomph" that one of those games should have. It was kind of a ridiculous world, in that it was normal, where everyday people dress normal, but at the same time it was also a fantasy world where people dress like knights and wield magic. I believe it was HonestTrailers that referred to it as very disjointed. They were right about that.

The characters and the voice acting were good. I liked the friendship between the four protagonists.
