Enjoying this, with one single exception...

I'm currently watching DSM for the first time and just finished season 1. While it's certainly not my favourite show - the tone is sometimes a bit too serious for my taste, I think it would have worked better if they had made it even more over the top and concentrated on the comedy - I think it is very enjoyable overall.

I think I like Natalie Zea and Glenn Fitzgerald the most - surprisingly, since they are the ones I didn't know at all before watching this. They both are hilarious. Donald Sutherland and Peter Krause are great as the more serious leads. Seth Gabel is always a joy to watch. Also, Zoe McLellan does the best with her kind of boring role, she's very natural and likeable.

The one that's totally annoying me though is Samaire Armstrong. I'm really not one of those guys who go on a discussion board to bash one single actor/actress. But, at least in this show, she's neither funny nor believable, and you can see here how one weak performance in an otherwise strong ensemble can almost ruin a whole scene. Thankfully, during season 1 her scenes became fewer and fewer, and I've seen that she almost isn't in season 2 at all. I'm really looking forward to that...

I used to have an X-Files quote in my signature.

They did make it more over-the-top as it went on, and that killed it. That and the 2007 writers' strike.
