Did you live here about 1.5 to 2 years ago....it was filmed then and STILL IS NOT released...
Used alot of local places here in Schenectady like Union College, Maple Ski Ridge and Mikes Famous Hotdogs.
They did some filming at Scotia Police Dept also.

reply

Yes I have lived here my whole life and am completly dumbfounded on how I never knew any of this was going on back then. I would have been estatic to even catch a glimpse.

Scotia? Wow.... how did I never hear about this... I live *right* there... and yes, I have lived there for many, many years...

Nice to meet you I am Thom

The movie filming was NOT well publicized. I would have thought Schdy would do a lot more to advertise that some big stars were filming almost exclusively in our town. I heard about it, but only after it was nearly completed.

By the by, this film was NOT intended as either a made for TV OR a straight to DVD release. It was intended for a regular theatrical run, but when it took so long to make, then an eternity to edit, then it couldn't get picked up by a distributor because it was frankly awful, it was sold for a mere fraction of what it cost to make for airing on Lifetime and received a DVD Distribution deal, one that I'm sure will be just as under the radar as both it's production and its quiet release on Lifetime.....

Just another example of a film that came into the upstate New York area with promises of hiring local and instead pulled it's talent from NYC. A promise, by the way, that was the whole reason for the city of Schenectady's participation in allowing their use of the city as a filming location. It was intended to stimulate the economy of a city still rebuilding and instead lined the pockets of a crew residing 150 miles away.

They hired a small handful of talent from the area, primarily actors for background or bit parts, nowhere near the proposed 40% that was part of the deal made between the production company and the city.

There is a film community up in the upstate New York area, but you would never know because productions come up here and use their own people and the people from the area have to leave to find work, like me.

The fact that it got a straight to DVD release and miserable slot on Lifetime serves them right for their poor practices.

Thanks for nothing at all Winter of Frozen Dreams - signed - Schenectady, NY and it's film community
P. S. say hi to Courtney Hunt and Tennyson Bardwell for us, since you clearly travel in the same pack and abide by the same practices.

Sometimes it takes a while for editing and publishing to get done. Usually not 2 years though. Unless they plan on a straight to DVD release. HAVOC, had this same problemm it also came right out on DVD.

I was as lucky enough to know the Ass. Director and was able to play a few college students in different scenes, and I got to be a stand-in for Mr. Carradine. It was a great experience.

My friend's mom was originally cast as Thora's mother but I guess the whole part was cut in editing...bummer! We are all from albany/schenectady and the whole movie was done very quickly and quietly.

I was working at the Cumberland Farms the day that they filmed at Rolling Greens. One of my friends got a special thanks in the credits. Also one of my customers met Dean and Scott William Winters.
