What was up with the minotaur?
why was he there?
shareI guess it's Pan. He gets talked about quite a bit, and he makes appearances here and there, but isn't really an active character in the story, just more of a force.

He's there to do cool *beep* like look down the stairs.
shareLOL well dang, they could have at least made him look more scary, I mean in the whole move I thought it was a horse!

Let's never forget Mark Bingham, hero from United Flight 93 9/11/01

i agree .. it just looked stupid .. made it look funny ...
shareI thought the minotaur was the best part of the movie, he added to the hilarity of the movie which I really enjoyed. He really didn't make sense but was awesome all the same especially the high pitched noises added when ever he was on screen.

I just watched this movie last night. My daughters saw it used for 3 bucks and bought it for me. I love horror movies.
You are exactly correct about the minotaur. When a movie wants to make obscure point they have to give a little information. The fact of a pan is not common knowledge. I would most people would see a Pan to be GOOD. In ancient times if a Pan was seen the travelers they knew the woods were safe.
The two twists were extremely easy to predict. I thought we would see the Pan as the islands owner changing between forms. But no.

I felt this wasn't based as much on the original Greek mythology as it was on Arthur Machen's The Great God Pan. Here Pan is used more as a natural force and paganism.
His power in this short story is more about influencing people to do things they normally won't do (not much of a spoiler... for a story more than 120 years old ;))
Wow good call on the reference there.
