50 things needed to improve the new Benidorm series because it's naff.

The old series are some of the best TV comedies ever. Pure TV gold. The latest one is god-awful. Collectively can we reach 50 things to improve it so the writers up their game and produce something decent. I will give the first 8:

1. Joey is about as funny as treading in doggy do-dar. Ditch him.

2. Liam is sorely missed so bring him back.

3. Kenneth needs better scripting. He can be funny with the right script.

4. We need to find a Donald number 2. Nobody will replace him (RIP dear sir) but we need a believable and lovable dirty old man.

5. Bring back the Garveys. Nuff said.

6. Bring back Gavin. Troy doesn't work well on his own or with just Kenneth.

7. Bring back Martin and maybe his estranged posh wife (I forget her name, sorry)

8. Expand some of the excellent cameos in to proper roles. The recent Angus Deayton was very good, Joan Collins (I bet she would love it) Sheriden Smith (though not a cameo was brilliant!!)!!

Agreed, but I think what's missing overall is an actual storyline.

Take series 2 for example, we were watching it knowing that it was building to the wedding, which makes it all much more entertaining. I've no idea at all what the story is this season.

As for the Garvey's, I love them, who doesn't? But the last 2 or 3 seasons they were in, they didn't do anything. Mick (Steve Pemberton) looked bored throughout and didn't act like the same character in series 1-4.

Joey needs to go, that's a cert. The guy doesn't get comedy and his timing is way off the mark.

Agree also with getting Gavin back with Troy although I think Gavin has not returned because of his theatre production he's in.

The cameos are tedius to me so I also agree about giving them extra storylines.

9. Get an actual storyline

10. Focus on the holiday makers, not the staff. Watch the earlier series and you can see that the decline of the show starts when we start going into the lives of the Solana staff.

11. Have the holiday makers do things together (like the day out at the bull fight in series 2 and the waterfalls in series 3). At the moment they're not gelling at all and are all off doing their own things.

Ditch the stupid storylines like that woman fancying Troy.

Centre on the holiday makers like missing a coach etc.

Mateo acting like waiters do, they don't care what the customers think.

Get rid of that thick black lad. You could tell he was acting.

Set it somewhere else on the nightlife other than the same pub.

Totally agree with everything you have said. It's a shame it's going down hill. Some strong characters like Mateo are keeping it going. Joey is a dreadful character so predictable and not funny at all.I'm missing a lot of the old cast Liam,Madge, the Garveys.I don't mind having any new characters as long as they are given the right script and great jokes like it use to.
