I have seen a lot of these Lifetime movies shot in Canada. For reasons unknown to me the local seems to be in Pennsylvania. Why is that. Anyway, since I am a lifelong resident of the Keystone State, I might point out that PA cars have only one license plate, on the rear. I know states that have two but Pa is only one. Small detail but I cant find out how to contact the producers, who might want to make a change.

Thanks for the tip. Someone brought this up a few movies back about PA having only rear plates. Since then, the art dept. has made the change and newer movies will indeed be plated with only one plate on the picture cars. However, due to the fact that many of the driving scenes are not shot on a closed set, you'll see some other cars with two plates (since in Canada, they use two like many of the states in the U.S.).

To answer your question about why the movies use Canada for Pennsylvania, there are two basic reasons. 1. The weather and foliage in Canada resembles that of Pennsylvania (it could just as easily be Chicago or Minneapolis or Omaha) but certainly not the southern U.S. or the west coast. So on that level, Pennsylvania was arbitrary... it was as good of a choice as any other. And the reason that we use Pennsylvania over and over is because it saves the art department money to have license plates, signage, etc. made that fits Pennsylvania and then use it on several movies instead of starting over each time with a new state.

Why aren't the movies simply set in Ottawa? Would Americans have that much trouble wrapping their heads around these events happening in Ottawa rather than Philadelphia? I like watching these movies as I lived in Ottawa for many years but it bothers me greatly how Ottawa always doubles for Philadelphia in these movies.
