A radically different version

When I watched this I was pleasantly surprised by how different it was to the original theatrical version. Some Directors Cuts insert peripheral and unnecessary inserts into movies, but this was a radically different vision to that released into theatres and is a much more gritty and downbeat version. A very different experience. As a fan of the movie its good to have two versions of the film in existence, both are good, but if I had to choose I would say that the theatrical cut just pips the DC.
