The people who built the Inn were on crack!

Come on! who would build an Inn on the ocean in a place where hurricanes strikes so often, it's completely insane!

They did not originally build it so close to the water line. Years of beach erosion have caused the shore to creep up on the house.

Just about every house on the beach road is like that (I'm a local, born and bred). And as Master Shake pointed out, we no where near planned on any of these houses becoming this close to the ocean; same goes to the Cape Hatteras lighthouse which had to be moved due to erosion.

well said. I went to high school with holly and she's right. and we don't really even get major hurricanes. we get the bits and pieces leftover after florida gets their ass kicked

i thought they had been built in that situation because of the high platform they're on....

Well regardless how far back you build your house there, most need to be on stilts to protect them from storm surges.

Ever been to the beach??? OR watch the news??? It happens all of the time on the Eastern Carolina Shore...Hurricanes and wipe outs that is.
