The Real Rodanthe House is not great

I was completely inspired by the house, just beautiful. The house is a rental, which I found online. Viewed the pics and wow, completely different. Nothing like the movie, of course.

Hey, did you ever try dunking a potato chip in champagne? It's real crazy!

reply

Yup. Pretty boring.

beautiful! It's actually just like the movie! Only in the movie, the lighting made it look different.. brighter and stuff. The furniture was also different but it's exactly the same house.

The house itself is really beautiful but whoever decorated it should be shot. It's straight out of 1980. The Golden Girls wicker and hotel looking furniture and linens just gives it that classy touch.

Hopefully if they decide to rebuild it they'll modernize it a little (ie. no wood paneling).

I particularly like the smashed glasses upstairs.

I want to go and I hope to see wild horses.

reply

Please see the goofs ... no wild horses in Rodanthe ...

reply

Of course, I know there are no wild horses there, but there MIGHT be. BELIEVE!

reply

Actually there are horses that run wild on the Outer Banks, just not in Rodanthe. They run wild further up the coast, just north of Corolla. You have to have 4WD to get to the location they are at. They are descendents of horses from a spanish stock ship that came here over 400 years ago.

I saw this house last year, post movie and storm damage, and despite the missing porches and being deserted, I thought the house was beautiful. It is my favorite house on the island. I hear it is for sale now and only hope that someone saves it before the town tears it down.

Also, most of the inside scenes were shot elsewhere so we didn't see much of the inside of the house during the movie.

I LOVE that house. It is so different looking then any of the other houses. It has a victorian look to it. I really hope it gets saved.

I DO NOT believe the currant owners are doing it justice. They need a good kick in the butt. They have dropped the ball for a long time now. Yes the inside decorating is horrific but so is the care for the place. They are letting it fall to pieces, they deserted it long ago and just didn't care to keep an eye on it.

Please, someone buy the house, move it. It could really be something beautiful with people who actually care about it.

And I do hope people read up and know that the movie was not shot inside the house. Only the exterior. That doesn't make it ugly though. If someone went inside that place with care it could be just as beautiful.
