Never read the book, but i thought the film was great. I liked the way the relationship developed between them, especially through the letters.

I enjoyed it for what it was, a nice romantic film.

I enjoyed it also as the theme of the movie is "hope".

I noted that as well...the relationship that began awkwardly during the storm between two troubled people who fell "into sync" via the letters. That is where her peace with herself and the strength to say no to her ex came from. That is how Paul regained his son...or should I say that is how the son regained his father, however you want to look at it.
