Pretty, but Shallow

Being the nice guy I am, I just came back from taking my wife to see "Nights In Rodanthe. I've always liked Diane Lane and Richard Gere, but had trouble believing their relationship. The film felt artificial. Pretty cinematography that didn't serve the story and a script that lacked heart. I have to agree with a previous post that Scott Glenn was fantastic. Also, when will filmmakers learn that we don't need wall to wall music. Music was important to the characters and the scenes of them listening to music worked well. Then they had to go ruin it with over-wrought background music.

Sure you do, when you have basically no script.

Yeah, I do agree. The plot was a bit forced, which is silly, given how much chemistry Lane and Gere have.

But awesome casting job with James Franco as Gere's son.

Does anyone else think Diane Lane looks like she could play Mary Tyler Moore's daughter?
