If there ever is a real costal storm that big house is going in the sea!

The waves go right under the steps! That huge house is just about in the ocean as it is. If they ever had a real hurricane that house is going to be swept away! I think it was a bad idea to build a house so close to the ocean!

According to FAQs it was apparently a real house and was actually used as a rental. The appearance of it having been built "so close" to the ocean was probably due to erosion that eventually led to some damage in a storm and the subsequent move. IOW it wasn't built that close but the beach eroded and left it exposed.

Incidentally, they had to move Hatteras light for the same reason...beach erosion was making it vulnerable. See: http://www.nps.gov/caha/learn/historyculture/movingthelighthouse.htm

Actually I grew up in a town with houses along the beach like that. We get some pretty amazing storms in the winter and somehow they don't fall down.

The house was moved in or around 2010.
