deja vu (sp?)

I listened to this book over a year ago. I watched it because I recognized the title but didn't remember the details of the book. As I started to watch it, the beginning of it seemed very familiar, like I had seen another TV movie/show that started the same way, a nurse taking a newborn to a facility for the mentally retarded and then, when seeing how bad the place was, took the infant home and raised the child herself. Does this sound familiar to anyone else?
