Kathy Baker is now attached to the show, giving it a pretty strong cast. An interesting idea with a good cast has a decent chance of getting an order. I'll be crossing my fingers.

good!, the more decent actors work on this the more chance it was of getting air time

It's got a good cast but CBS might find it a little too out there (Zombie drama and all that) for their very mainstream procedural network. But maybe they are looking for something a little different. Actually I suppose they do have Ghost Whisperer.

Edit.

This is what Amber Tamblyn has to say about it on her website.

Babylon has the potentiality to be, better than Joan. The supporting actors are incredible actors that are all very well known. The script deserves a better explanation than CBS gave it-- It is a wonderful, very dark comedy/drama, about corruption, deception, death, and rebirth. A la Six Feet Under, Heros, Lost, The Wire, Devil Wears Prada. Sike on that last one;)

It's not a Zombie show.
It wont be a thriller video.
I can't believe they even used that word! haha. And the truth is, something this obscure and avant-gaurd, may not even make it past the CBS Upfront gates. It might just be too David Lynch for the family network CBS, but we shall see. It is absolutely 100% worth the risk. And Les Moonves is the architect. He invented the invention. If anyone could pull it off, the owner of SHOWTIME could.

So from that sounds like it might be promising, if as she says, potentially too wierd for CBS to pick it up. Although Les Moonves is involved in creating it, isn't he one of the CBS execs?

reply

Yeah, because it worked so well for Firefly... oh wait.

Anything off kilter from the mainstream has a very high chance of being axed just because the execs don't understand it. Hate to be a downer, but this could very likely not make it through a full season.

reply

Hear ya. Let's hope having a cast that has more recognizable actors in it than "Firefly" did will be enough of an advantage to let this one get off the ground.

Much as I adore the original "CSI", I'm tired of the plethora of cop shows out there and am ready for something that makes me think in ways that don't involve figuring out who commited the crime on this week's episode.

reply

Well, if you look at the CSI spinoffs, it's easy to tell why it happened. CSI is a rather intellectual show, and therefore a little above the major viewing audiences, so they created a CSI for dummies, and an intermediate.

reply

I think it will be picked up especially with the reviews Amber is getting for Stephanie Dailey right now

reply

So it's not really about Zombies? The phrase "they want their old lives back" already made me think that they can't be real Zombies.

What are they then? They are also saying about the show on the net that besides their hunger for human flesh some of them want revenge others want just friends because they feel lonely and so on.

I am still looking forward to the show. The idea sounds really interesting. Actually I would have expected something like this from HBO or a cable channel and not from one of the network channels as CBS.

from what i read in Variety, this has been picked up by the network. The networks announce in just a few weeks their fall lineups, and I read in Variety that this was one of their fall shows. Also, networks are starting to go for edgier, more "out there" stuff...they are all desparate for a hit, so i guess we will have to wait and see
