Are there any women who like this flick?

It seems like all women are thinking with one mind and dislike this good movie. Am I wrong or are there women who like this flick?

My sig: why do almost all movies on imdb have a "worst movie ever!" thread?

I did like the movie in that I was engrossed & intrigued. I was not so disturbed by the sexual violence (whippings), but I was bothered by the physical beatings & killings. I was surprised to see that some people on this message board viewed the violence as misogynistic. I didn't think of it that way; I just believe it's a portrait of a very sick individual who has an ability to seem normal on the surface.

I really liked this film. It was completely engrossing. I watched it several times. It's a shame so many viewers don't take a film like this for what it is - a work of fiction.

Reaction time is a factor in this, so please pay attention.

I liked the movie...of course it was disturbing, but still a good movie

I did! I thought this was an excellent film.

Did you find the character study of Lou interesting? What other elements were appealing?

I really liked the film. Interesting character study, well shot and evocative of a particular period in time, and with good acting all round. Casey Affleck really reminded me of a young Mark Ruffalo.

I agree that this movie was excellent and extremely engrossing. I love the fact that it creates such passionate debate and response from filmgoers. In an age where Hollywood becomes increasingly sanitized with all the remakes and superhero garbage movies, it is refreshing to see a film like this come out of nowhere and knock my senses awake.

I'm female and I absolutely loved every minute of it. But I'm one of those people who just really enjoys watching violence, idc if its male on female or vice versa or whatever. I actually watched this with my ex a few years back and when he started beating up Jesica Alba, I'm pretty sure I yelled something like "DAMN, HES BEATING THE *beep* OUTTA THAT BITCH!"' Because its just a f#cking movie, and it was awesome.

Brutal violence is totally awesome!! Damn, a realistic scene of a man beating a woman1 AWESOME. Idiot.

reply

Did you not read the part where the poster said she wasn't traumatized because it was just a fictional scene? Maybe you're the idiot because you can't let someone express their opinion about a movie without insulting them.

I'm a woman and I love the book, but I've never seen either of the movie adaptations. I've heard neither is very good, but then, I do really like the book so much, so I keep going back and forth on whether or not to watch it.
